For the past 14 years, Marva Shand McIntosh has promoted BHSM by creating an awareness for the importance of listening. I Love to Listen Day – May 16 is the premiere international listening day when people around the globe are encouraged to listen and speak up for listening. The date, May 16th was selected primarily to align with BHSM.
As a speech-language pathologist in the District of Columbia Public Schools, Marva has used this opportunity to share listening workshops for audiologists, SLPs, teachers, administrators and health professionals in Washington, D.C., many states across the United States and other countries.
On May 16th this year some schools in Jamaica, St Kits & Nevis, Maryland, Michigan, Washington D.C. and citizens from several other countries will hear about BHSM as they celebrate the 14th year of I Love to Listen Day. The communities in these schools will be creating and sharing thank-you for listening notes as they reflect on the theme “Does Listening Run in Your Family?”
